Research Assistant: Individual Research Project

September 2022 - Present

Project: Non-narrative content and spontaneous thought.

This project is a branch off of Dr. Bellana's recent work "Narrative thinking lingers in spontaneous thought".

Previously, I coded the main experimental task and its conditions using Javascript, HTML, and CSS. I have also done a preliminary literature search to source the relevant questionnaires to gather participant data related to our variables of interest.

My main task will be to integrate the experimental tasks into an online experimental framework via Psiturk to produce a working experiment that participants can interact with on Prolific. This includes ensuring participant data is anonymous and saved to a secure database for further data analysis. Once we begin to gather data, I will be building upon my data analysis and statistical coding skills to decipher the results of the data using primarily R.

I will be presenting our findings at the end of the year to the department heads, the lab, and potentially at a conference. I hope to be a part of the writing process as the project continues past my IRP term.
